LASTING INVESTMENT

As I read Psalms 39: 1-7 a few things became clear to me.My time here on earth is short. Secondly a person's efforts to accumulate wealth are futile because the person who works for wealth may not get to enjoy it. In addition, the time he or she spends doing so could be better spent pursuing God. Lastly, I realized my hope is in God.

These insights are important to us today. When we focus our attention on the problems, pursuits and pleasures of this life, we will always get side-tracked from what really matters- knowing Jesus. When we focus on God, we will realize how frail and short life is and we will see that our hope is in God alone. For that reason we should pursue things of eternal value. That may include faithfully praying for unbelievers, sharing Christ with friends or helping those in need.
What is greatest pursuit? Money?Success? Power? a cool car? or a big house? As you evaluate your pursuits, remember these words, "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasures are, there the desires of your heart will also be." (Matthew 6:19-21)

  1. Indeed, this is very true. Better is one day in the house of the Lord than a thousand elsewhere....

As we search for wealth and success and power we also need to keep in mind what Jesus told a rich man... that " It is harder for a rich man to get into heaven than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. Thanks Paul for reminding us what true treasure is and where it ought to be stored.

  2. That is inspiring.. many times we forget ourselves because needs and frustrations of life take a hold of us and we forget the reason(s) why we took up the pen in the first place... I agree.. treasures in heaven mean more than those we have on earth... Thanks for that word of Encouragement.
